Quickstart

The hosted proxy is the default path. You should not need npm i agentstools to see your first tool call.

1. Create a project

Sign in at app.agentstools.com, create a project, and set the upstream URL to your existing remote MCP server (HTTP or SSE). Copy the proxy URL. It looks like:

https://app.agentstools.com/p/<project_token>

2. Replace the MCP URL

In your MCP client config, keep every other field — headers, OAuth, timeouts — and change only the server URL.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "production": {
      "url": "https://app.agentstools.com/p/proj_replace_me",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_UPSTREAM_TOKEN"
      }
    }
  }
}

The proxy forwards Authorization, Cookie, and other hop-to-hop-safe auth headers to your origin. It does not store those values.

3. Confirm a call

Trigger any tool from the agent. The dashboard lists tool name, latency, and status. Default retention is 7 days on the Free plan. We store metadata only unless you opt in to payloads.

What we do not do (yet)

  • SDK ingest (npm i agentstools) — ingest API exists; client SDK later
  • OpenTelemetry / OTLP — later
  • CLI wrapper for local stdio MCP servers — later
  • Paid plans / Paddle checkout — later
